Speaking Up I
Learn and practice phrases for speaking with a professor in class and in office hours.
Speaking Up II
Learn and practice English phrases and pronunciation for talking with other students in class and group work.
Speaking Up III
Learn and practice conveying information with good pronunciation. Learn strategies for speaking when you don’t understand and when you don’t know the words.
Grammar Comma Splices
Identify comma splices and practice three ways of fixing them.
Grammar Commas with Subordinating Conjunctions
Learn where to put commas with subordinating conjunctions. Learn more subordinating conjunctions through writing practice.
Grammar Parallelism
Learn what being parallel in English means. Practice writing parallel structures with guided help.
Grammar Fragments
Identify different kinds of fragments and practice ways to fix them.
Cultural Expectations I
Read a real-life case study and learn about different cultural expectations of students in American college and other countries’ colleges.
Cultural Expectations II
Using speaking activities students will learn about learning resources available at COC and American colleges.
