South Region Playoff Bracket
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – College of the Canyons men’s soccer team has earned a No. 8 seed in the California Community College Athletic Association Men’s Soccer Southern Regional Playoffs and will host No. 9 Santa Barbara City College on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. in Cougar Stadium.
The Cougars (12-6-2, 9-3-2) finished in second place in the Western State Conference, behind first-place Santa Barbara (9-6-5, 9-1-4), but had a better overall record than the Vaqueros.
Canyons and Santa Barbara met twice during the regular season, which resulted in a 3-1 win for the Vaqueros and 1-1 tie later in the season.
This is only the second time that the program has made the post season since it began in 2003. Phil Marcellin led his team to the playoffs in 2004, but lost to Moorpark 3-1 in the first round.
The winner of Saturday’s match up will take on No. 1 seed Rio Hondo (17-1-3), who had a bye in the first round, and will play on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Tickets for the events can only be bought at the gate. Adults are $8 and $5 for students with identification, children under 12 and seniors.
