Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)

Purpose
Welcome to College of
the Canyons' online Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). This is a living
document that will be updated regularly in order to coordinate college-wide
responses to emergencies, disasters, and other challenges.
The EOP is designed to assist you during a campus emergency. To be prepared, it
is important that you review this website now before an emergency occurs. The EOP
will familiarize you with the procedures and the type of assistance available
during an on-campus emergency and will also:
- Assign
responsibility in the event of an emergency.
- Set forth lines of
authority.
- Describe how
people and property will be protected.
- Identify
personnel, equipment, facilities, supplies and other resources.
Remember, preparedness is the key
during a disaster!
Disaster Response
The District recognizes
that a major disaster may strike at any time and may result in injuries to
students and staff and damage to the college’s property. Recognizing that
emergency planning is the only way to effectively respond to a disaster and to
mitigate its effects, the District has established an Emergency Operations Plan
(EOP). The plan contains emergency procedures to be followed in the event of
disaster at the Valencia and/or Canyon Country campus. The plan complies with
relevant laws and regulations of the United States and the State of California.
In the event of a declared disaster, the Superintendent-President or his/her
designee is responsible for activating and implementing an Incident Command
Center (ICC).
