Training and Exercises
Training and exercises are vital to determine
the effectiveness of the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). Preparedness
activities ensure that the operational concepts are sound and that personnel are
adequately trained to carry out necessary responsibilities during an emergency
or disaster. In addition, testing will provide a basis for the updating and
revision of this plan and for the identification of adequate resources.
Participants and observers will evaluate
training and exercises and specific elements of the plan, as indicated.
The following review cycle will ensure that
the entire Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) is kept up-to-date and current. The
Emergency Operations Task Force is responsible for coordinating this review with
the assistance of responsible departmental managers and others, as necessary.
By March 1st of each
year:
Review and update the Emergency Operations
Plan (EOP). This review should include legislative updates, updates of relevant
operational procedures, a review of practical applications, and updates of
informational materials to all staff at all sites.
Prior to the start of each
semester, or as needed:
Update telephone, fax, and email directories,
personnel rosters, resource lists and physical plant changes affecting the
implementation of the plan.
At least annually:
Schedule and perform one or more training
exercises of variant scope and size. Training is critical to ensuring the
continued viability of the plan.
Changes to this plan will
be made and distributed immediately, including any additions or deletions to the
distribution list.
