Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)

Closure Due to Snow or Flooding

CLOSURE DUE TO SNOW OR FLOODING

If the Administration determines that the campus must be closed due to heavy snowfall or flooding, Campus Safety personnel will immediately contact the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station and the local California Highway Patrol Office to obtain a list of road closures in the surrounding areas.

Ingress and egress routes shall be identified and a campus evacuation route will be coordinated with local law enforcement officials.

The Public Information Office (PIO) will issue a campus wide “all-call” telephone voice mail notification of the closure and the established ingress and egress routes.

The Public Information Office (PIO)  will advise local radio stations and news agencies in order to inform the local community of the campus closure.

The Public Information Office (PIO)  will make individual calls to all executive cabinet members.  This is to be done jointly by the Administrative Assistant and Facilities Specialist.

Assigned personnel will secure the campus.  The rooms and buildings will be locked when cleared.

Campus Safety will place signs at all entrances notifying students that the campus is temporarily closed.  Campus Safety and Facilities personnel will man the campus traffic entrances in order to answer any questions that may arise and to guide the traffic flow to avoid potential traffic jams at the ingress/egress points of campus.
