  1. If you observe a suspicious package, do not handle it.  If you receive a suspicious package, gently place it in a stationary location near where you first picked it up and secure the location.  Do not open drawers or cabinets or turn lights on or off.   IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL STAFF WITH TWO-WAY RADIOS AND BASE STATIONS:  Immediately turn off your radio and base station.  Do not transmit under any circumstances as this may activate the bomb.

  1. Notify Campus Safety by dialing campus extension 3229. Designated personnel familiar with the area will conduct a basic search of the area.

  1. Immediately activate the building alarm and evacuate all persons in the area.  When the alarm sounds, walk quickly to the nearest marked exit and alert others to do the same.

  1. Assist physically challenged persons in exiting the building.  Remember that elevators are reserved for disabled persons use during emergencies.  Do not use elevators in case of fire.  Stay calm, do not panic.

  1. Once outside, proceed to a safe area at least 500 feet away from any structure and remain there until an “all clear” signal is given.  It is important to keep the streets, fire lanes, hydrants and walkways clear for emergency vehicles and first responder personnel.

  1. Do not return to an evacuated building until it has been established safe by a College official.
