Junior High Summer Institute - Castaic Recreation

Lorie Bennett

Lori Bennett is a recreation professional who has spent the past 28 years working for Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. During this time she has been involved in planning and conducting a wide variety of recreational programs and classes. Since 2006, she has been Superintendent at Castaic Lake Recreation Area. Lori graduated from California State University Long Beach with a degree in Physical Education. Her experience and passion for boating began at a very early age when her grandfather introduced her to sailing. In addition to sailing, her knowledge extends to windsurfing and kayaking. Lori also has a general knowledge of the history, background, operations and nature and wildlife of Castaic Lake.

Eric J. Reifman

Eric Reifman has been in the recreation profession for 12 years. Because Eric was on a United States Swim Team and grew up in the Parks and Recreation system, he developed a love for the water and decided to make his career in recreation. Starting his career in 1997, as a lifeguard he oversaw and implemented many programs such as, swim and dive teams, lifeguard classes, junior lifeguard programs, swim lessons, kayaking classes and much more. He graduated from California State University of Long Beach with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation. Eric was first hired by Castaic Lake as a Lake Lifeguard in 2002 and has been a Superintendent at Castaic Lake since 2008.
