This four hour class is for mature, compassionate teenagers and adults (ages 18 and above) that want to expedite the process of becoming a certified therapy dog handler (age 18 and up) at the least cost with well-respected dog therapy agencies.
The class also prepares you for taking the live (with your dog) and the written certification tests.
Anyone who has felt a connection with a pet and experienced that joy of unconditional love, understanding, and acceptance, know the value of a pet’s companionship. These qualities make animals, particularly dogs, ideal therapeutic visitors that bring smiles to patients in hospitals, calm travelers at airports, ease children's anxiety during court testimony, help children learn to read, provide comfort to victims of natural and man-made disasters, and many new emerging applications.
Course includes an in-depth explanation of the entire registration process and strategies to help you choose a facility that matches your service interests. We combine lecture, demonstrations and video of therapy dog evaluations used by different registering agencies. A therapy handler resource guide and post class instructor support is included in the course fee.
Note : Please do not bring your dog to class.
