California Employment Development Department (EDD) LABOR MARKET INFO 

Labor Market information by local area along with occupational projections and wages, occupational and local area "hot job" profiles and videos. Great for career exploration as well as job search.  Good, local, current info that used to be hard to come by unless you made some phone calls!

California Occupational Guides 

These are the online versions of those available in all college career centers in alphabetical order. Good, local (California) information for hundreds of occupations. Trends, job duties, working conditions, California outlook, wages, hours, fringe benefits, entrance requirements, tips on finding that first job, and additional sources of information are included in each guide.

Job Outlook for California Community College Occupational Education Programs by County 

This site lists the most current wages, employment projections and training and apprenticeship requirements by occupation by county in California.  A great resource!

Job Star Central 

This site is composed of guides for specific careers that list concise info about training, education, salary, what's hot, what's not, as well as personal stories (for some of the guides) from those working in the specific fields. Great exploratory resource!

Job Star Salary Surveys 

The only resource of its kind I found on the Web. Links to salary surveys on the Web for specific occupations. Negotiation strategies are also discussed. Outstanding resource.

Occupational Outlook Handbook (Current Edition) 

From the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, this online resource is generally only available in college career centers, counseling offices, and library reference-use only sections. Now it's available on your computer with a keyword search feature! You can research most major career titles and easily obtain national info relative to job description, training requirements, occupational outlook, salary, etc.

The Wall Street Journal Careers Journal

A very comprehensive online magazine complete with job search links, career columnists, salaries and profiles, and a "college connection" section.

Wetfeet.com

Offers career industry profiles and comparisons, salary reports, and many links to job/internet listings and assistance with resumes, interviewing, etc.  Discussion boards and industry resources are also featured.
