COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS INSTRUCTOR GUIDE: HOW TO REQUEST A COURSE IN CANVAS
Beginning in Winter 2018, Canvas shells will automatically be created for all sections (including online, hybrid, & face to face classes), every term for instructors who are Canvas Certified*.
If you do not see the course that you are scheduled to teach in Canvas, please send an email to Chad Estrella, the COC Canvas Administrator at: firstname.lastname@example.org with your course name, section number and start date, along with any additional set-up requests (example, multiple sections in one course).
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. Can I have multiple sections setup in one course in Canvas?
A. Yes. If you would like to have multiple sections listed in a single Canvas course, send an email to Chad Estrella (email@example.com) with the course name, section number, start date, and any extra course set-up instructions.
Q. If I only want to use Canvas to supplement a face-to-face course, do I still need to complete the Canvas training?
A. Yes. In order to use Canvas, you must first complete either the 4 hour in-person Canvas training, or the Canvas Online self-paced training course.
Q. Will the automatically-created Canvas course shells be visible to students?
A. Canvas course shells will not be visible to students until you as the Instructor publish the course.
