Re-visiting a Site using Recent History
A word about History:
The site visitation history is contained only on the computer that was used when you visited the site.  All who use the browser program on a particular computer will add to its history.  Therefore, if you use multiple computers while computing your assignments, you will not have a complete computer history on any of them.

MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER HISTORY:

You have several options when viewing your Internet Explorer history.

Click on "History" on the Standard Button toolbar.  A History window will open at the left of the main window.

In the History column, clicking on "View" will allow you to view your recent history by date, by site, by most visited, and by order visited today.

Clicking on the "Search" button will bring up a blank space.  Type the URL you are interested in.  The program will generate a full history list of your visit to that site.  Click on any of the items.  The site will open onto the main window.

To open an item visited in recent history, click on the down arrow at the right side of the Address box on the main window.  Recently visited sites will appear here. NOTE:  This gives the home page URLs of sites you have visited by entering the URL directly into the Address box.  Pages that you visited by linking to them from other sources will not be listed on this history menu.

To set Internet History options, click on "Tools" on the Menu bar and then click "Internet Options."

When the Internet window opens, click on the "General" tab if it isn't already open.  Go to "History."  You may enter any number (up to three digits) in the "Days to keep pages in history" box.  A button is also available if you wish to completely clear your recent history.

When you have made your selection/s click "OK."

USING NETSCAPE HISTORY:

Like Internet Explorer, you may view URLs visited in recent history by clicking on the down arrow at the right side of the address box on the main Netscape window.  NOTE:  This gives the home page URLs of sites you have visited by entering the URL directly into the Address box.  Pages that you visited by linking to them from other sources will not be listed on this history menu.

To view a more complete history, click on "Go" on the menu toolbar.  when the drop-down menu opens, click on "History."  When the History window opens, click on "View."

By default, your history is "Unsorted." You may select to sort one of the following ways: by title, by location, by last visited, or by some of the rarer variations: by first visited, by Hostname, by Referrer and by Visit Count.

To search the history, do not click the "Search" button as you would in Internet Explorer (this "Search" directs you to Ask Jeeves at ask.com).  Instead, click on "Go" on the Menu bar, and then click History. When the History window opens it will display URLs that you have visited most recently on the top, with them grouped by day.

Click on "View" on the History window to open a drop-down menu.  You will find that you can set up your History to sort by title, by location and by last visited, or leave the history "Unsorted."
