About Weekend College/FAQ

Who can register for Weekend College?
This program is ideal for students who:
  • Recently graduated from high school
  • Are returning to college and need general education coursework
  • Are working adults
  • Are seeking to complete specific general education requirements
  • Prefer to take classes on the weekend
  • Enjoy the benefits of completing courses with a cohort of students
Program Benefits:
  • Completion: Enrolled students will complete many A.A. general education requirements, including many CSU & IGETC requirements.  Full-time Weekend College students may be able to complete all of the general education requirements for the associate's degree in one year.
  • Clarity: The program will provide a clear schedule of which classes to take and certainty that they will be offered.
  • Success: Orientation and retention efforts will promote student success.
  • Teamwork: Participants will enjoy cohort learning with classmates through the program.
  • Help: Faculty will receive concierge-level assistance with one-on-one coaching and instructional design support for the online course environment.
  • Opportunity: Students and faculty will be part of an innovative program.
  • Community: Periodic food and activities/events will be offered throughout the semester.
  • Consistency: Classes will meet on Fridays and/or Saturdays, freeing up the week for homework or other obligations.
  • Support: Mentors will check in with you along the way to ensure your success.
 
How does Weekend College work?
  • Complete the online "interest form" and RSVP for a face-to-face orientation at the Canyon Country Campus. Please see our events calendar for upcoming orientation session dates/times.
  • Attend the welcome/orientation session.  At the orientation session, you will have a chance to register for the Weekend College Program. 
  • After you’ve attended the orientation, you will be flagged as a Weekend College student. This flag on your student account is what allows you to register for Weekend College sections.
  • Register for your classes on or after your assigned registration date.
  • Receive guidance and support from a program mentor, counselors, and the COUNS-110 course throughout the program.
  • Through individualized support, select your major before the end of the year and map out a specific plan for your major coursework.
  • There are many campus resources available to you! Check them out!
