How are Fast
Track programs different from traditional classes at College
of the Canyons?
Fast Track classes are intended to give skills that lead to
entry level employment in a short period of time. These are
fee-based classes, intensive and “hands on.” Many are
offered in an accelerated format meeting 3 to 5 days a week
and 4 to 8 hours per day. |

2. How do you determine what classes
to offer?
We use a combination of labor market data, business and
industry advisory groups and interviews with specific
employers. |

3. Do you offer college credit for
these classes?
No, these are job-training classes offered on a fee basis. |

4. How do I get further training
beyond entry-level skills?
Many Fast Track programs can lead to traditional Career
Technical Education (CTE) classes published in the College
of the Canyons catalog. Pathways to continue your education
will be explored in each of the Fast Track classes. |

5. How much do the classes cost?
Cost varies by class. Registration fees range from $600 up
to $4000 for extensive training classes. The cost of each
program is listed on the information sheet and on our

6. Do your offer
financial assistance?
No, however funding may be available for
qualified candidates through the Workforce Investment Act.
Check with the SCV WorkSource Center or your local
WorkSource Center to determine your eligibility

7. How many hours are needed to
complete each class?
Classes vary based on the depth of training required.
Classes range from 3 hours per week for professional
development classes to 32 hours per week to enable the
students to complete classes as quickly as possible. The
days and hours of each program are listed on the information
sheet and on our website |

8. Is job placement guaranteed at
completion?
No, the classes prepare you with the skills that employers
have indicated they want. In addition, we provide career
services to assist with your job search such as resume
preparation, interview coaching and employer job fairs. |

9. Who teaches these classes?
Our classes are taught by a combination of faculty, industry
and subject matter experts. |

12. Who can attend Fast Track
classes?

14. Do I need a placement test?
Certain classes have assessment requirements for math and
English, see individual class descriptions for that

15. Will I get grades for Fast
Track classes?
No. You will not get grades or college credit for Fast Track
classes. |

16. Are there tests in the Fast
Track classes?
Some Fast Track classes are designed to prepare the
participant to take an outside certification exam. Other
Fast Track classes are competency based so, as you
demonstrate skills at the completion of a unit, it will be
added to your list of skill competencies. |

17. Are students required to take a
drug test prior to participating in the training?
No. However, once students have completed the program and
begin the job seeking and hiring process, you can expect a
drug test from most employers. |

18. Where are the classes held?
Fast Track Institute classes will be held at several Santa
Clarita Valley locations, including the college’s training
center at Aerospace Dynamics International, Inc., in
Valencia and at the College of the Canyons campuses in
Valencia and Canyon Country |

19. Do I need a parking permit?
Classes held at College of the Canyons campuses require a
parking permit, offered on a daily basis or as a lon- term
permit. Classes held at the Aerospace Dynamics International
utilize street parking. |

20. May I get a refund if a Fast
Track class gets cancelled?
Yes. Preregistered students will be notified if a class is
canceled. You may choose a full refund or have your fees
transferred to another class. Please allow 3 weeks for check
refunds and two business days for credit card refunds. |

21. May I get a refund if I drop a
class?
If you are unable to attend a class for which you
registered, you must notify the Fast Track Institute at
least two working days before the class begins, otherwise a
refund will not be issued. Once proper notice has been
received, your registration fee, minus a $10.00 cancelation
fee will be refunded. Refunds after class begins are subject
to our drop policy (see below). |

22. What if I start the class and
then realize this field is not of interest to me?
A refund of 90% will be issued if a class is dropped during
the first 10% of the class, after that time no refunds will
be offered. |
