Class name:
CNC Machinist Training
Requirements: English and Math assessment at
WorkKeys level 4
Audience: Candidates for entry level positions in
manufacturing CNC operations
Entry Wage: $11-15/hr
1 Year Wage: $13-17/hr
Description: For
qualified candidates, this intensive job-training program
provides an entry opportunity in the field of CNC
manufacturing for both commercial and aerospace machining.
CNC Machinists use machine tools, such as lathes, milling
machines, and grinders, to produce precision metal parts.
Some machinists, often called production machinists, may
produce large quantities of one part, especially parts
requiring the use of complex operations and great precision.
Many modern machine tools are computer numerically
controlled (CNC). CNC machines, following a computer
program, control the cutting tool speed, change tool for
specific operations, and perform all necessary cuts to
create a part. Frequently, machinists work with numerical
control programmers to determine how the automated equipment
will cut a part.
