How To Become a SNAC Member?
Anyone (students, staff/faculty, or community members) can apply for SNAC membership. However, only currently registered COC students are eligible to serve in "officer" positions within SNAC.
Applicants are expected to…
Make a one semester commitment to working with SNAC.
Submit an application form
to faculty advisor Sheri Barke in the Student Health Center (STCN 122) on or before
the 2nd week of the semester for which membership is being sought.
(Recommended, but NOT required) Complete HLHSCI 149 – Nutrition for Fitness and Balanced Living or other relevant Health Science, Kinesiology, or Psychology academic courses.
Once selected, SNAC members will be committed to…
Attend a 2 hr. orientation during the first week of the semester (mandatory).
Attend 1-hour business/planning meetings twice per month (only 2 excused absences permitted).
Complete a minimum of 12 hrs. per semester of health promotion activities (this includes time spent in SNAC business meetings).
Maintain a healthy balance between school, work, and SNAC responsibilities and personal self care needs (for food, physical activity, sleep, and fun).

Learn how to plan and implement health and wellness programs.
Develop leadership, communication, and team-working skills.
Earn service units for the Student Development Transcript Program and/or Service Learning
Option to earn 1 academic unit through CWEE
for volunteering >60 hrs. per semester with SNAC.
Enhance resume and college transfer applications (especially if you’re interested in a health or fitness career).
Receive mentorship and career guidance from experienced health professionals.
Make a difference in the health and well-being of others.
