COC
Honors Program
Dear Students,
I am pleased to tell
you about some very exciting changes that are occurring at College of
the Canyons. COC is in the process of establishing a formal Honors
Program. At this time, HITE is being transitioned into COC Honors. The
changes I list below have been in the works for the past two semesters,
since the COC Honors Steering Committee has been planning the creation
of a true Honors Program. Overall, an Honors Program will receive
greater acceptance, as well as recognition by 4-year colleges and
universities. Thus far, faculty and students have expressed much
enthusiasm for these changes; unfortunately, they are occurring sooner
than anticipated. I am confident, however, that we can take this
opportunity to move forward in establishing an academically sound and
well recognized community college Honors Program.

points below which highlight many of the changes. To assist in promoting
the new COC Honors Program, I will be making presentations in classes
throughout the fall semester. At that time, I will also distribute the
