COC proposes to pay a stipend to
faculty to develop and pilot instructional innovations that build upon
classroom teaching strategies and skills acquired during participation
in Institute of Teaching and Learning courses, FLEX workshops, and
independent professional development activities.
Classroom Analysis Projects (CAPs) will
analyze pedagogical techniques using an action research approach. The
ultimate goal of every CAP is to promote student success through more
effective pedagogy.
Faculty members submit a research
proposal during the semester prior to the research project. At the end
of the semester a final project report is submitted and the researcher
is expected to publicize the results to the faculty. This may take the
form of a Flex presentation, usually a panel of reports, or some
alternative means.
Faculty will propose Classroom Analysis
Projects (CAPs) based upon topics like the following:
Basic Skills
Study Skills
Active Learning
Syllabus Design
Classroom Assessment Techniques
Time management
Teaching with Technology
Case Studies
Classroom Management
Teaching and Learning Styles
Lesson Planning
The Lesson Basics
The CAP Committee will select CAP proposals and determine the level of
stipend based on the Proposal Ranking Criteria.
Submit your fall
2009 CAP proposal prior to April 22nd, 2009.
