The ITL currently offers two types of
courses. EDU courses, which are in the college catalog, require
registration through the COC enrollment and admissions process.
ITL course-length workshops are part of the salary advancement program, but are
offered informally through the Institute.
To enroll in EDU course, like EDU 106
Introduction to Online Teaching, follow the instructions below.
To enroll in course-length workshops, such as
Microteaching or Community College Education contact
Ron Dreiling at ron.dreiling@canyons.edu.
If you have enrolled in any COC course (i.e. Spanish 101 or EDU 088)
within the past semester, bypass Step One and complete Steps Two and
Three to become officially enrolled. Everyone else must complete Steps
One, Two, and Three to become officially enrolled in the course.
Step One:
Application for admission to enroll in an ITL course
Apply online at www.canyons.edu. Once you
access this page, the
COC homepage, locate the row of navigation buttons on the top of the
screen and click on “Apply Now!” This will lead you to the online
application. Click on “Begin Application for College of the
Canyons.” Login as “New Users.” You will NOT need to
provide academic transcripts. Please submit the application once
it is complete. The application will be uploaded into COC’s system in
one to two business days. Although normally expeditious, this
step should be completed well ahead of time because delays can occur
and you cannot enroll until this step has been completed.
Check
your My Canyons account to confirm your enrollment/registration
date and time.
Step Two: Enroll\Register
in the class
After 24 to 48 business hours the system should be ready for you to
register. However, you may wish to e-mail Linda Rios
(linda.rios@canyons.edu)
to assure you have been “cleared for
take-off,” since this step in the process can be a little
“cranky.” Then go to <www.canyons.edu> and click on the
“My
Canyons” button at the top of the homepage. Click on “Log In” and
enter your Web Advisor User Name and Password (you do not need a
separate student user name and password). Select “Student,”
then choose "Register/Add Classes" under Registration. Select
“Express Registration” and enter the five digit section
number of the course, which can be found at http://www.canyons.edu/info/schedule/Schedules.asp
by selecting the
education department. Follow the prompts to finish adding the course to
your schedule.
Step Three: Pay
for the Class
Return to the Main Menu of "My Canyons" (click on the Main Menu link)
and click on
“Make a Payment” under Student Account. You can then pay with a
credit card right online. If
you would prefer, you can pay in person at the Student Business Office
in the A Building.
If you have any questions in regards to the steps, please feel free to
contact Jasmine Ruys in the Admissions and Records Office at (661)
362-3466 or jasmine.ruys@canyons.edu
or Linda Rios (661) 362-3629
or linda.rios@canyons.edu.
