Ms. Marcy Alancraig

Ms. Alancraig has been an English professor at Cabrillo College since 1991. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she served as the college SLO coordinator for the last 10 years, helping to create Cabrillo’s SLO assessment process, and writing its Web site and numerous training manuals that have been used as resources throughout the state. She has given numerous SLO training workshops for faculty through the California Assessment Institute, the Research and Planning Group, and the Academic Senate of the California Community Colleges. In addition, she has planned several SLO conferences including Assessment Worth Doing, all three Strengthening Student Success conferences and the two ASCCC Accreditation Institutes. She currently serves on the ASCCC Accreditation and SLO Committee and has worked to organize and train SLO coordinators across the state for the last four years. She is currently on leave from Cabrillo for a year, serving as one of the project coordinators of the Basic Skills Initiative Phase III, a grant from the Chancellor’s Office, helping faculty across the state to work better with students with basic skills needs. She has an MA in arts and media technology (emphasis in creative writing) from Antioch University, and her first novel, "The Ghosts Between Us," will be published by Rockway Press next year.
