Teaming up with lifetime friend Paul Simon in 1962, Simon & Garfunkel won five Grammy awards together, two in 1968 and three in 1970. In 1972, Simon & Garfunkel Greatest Hits was released, remaining on the charts for 131 weeks in the U.S. The album has since sold 14 million copies -- the largest selling album of all time for a duo. In 1990, Paul and Art were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Los Lobos broke into the mainstream music scene with their stirring rendition of the Richie Valens classic “La Bamba” for the big-screen movie, but began in 1973 as Los Lobos Del Este Los Angeles, and have evolved into a respected artistic entity searching for themes and topics that are an interpretive pulse of our times. Using musical molds built on the blues, rockabilly, jazz, Latin and their own Mexican-American heritage, Los Lobos have never beat their fans over the head with politics or agendas. Instead, they subtly challenge them with conscience-raising songs and thought-provoking lyrics.
