"Musical Journey through Latin America" celebrates the culture and music of Latin American countries such as Ecuador, Nicaragua, Colombia, Argentina and Brazil -- and emphasizes the hopes and struggles of Latin Americans. This unique benefit concert, presented by the Santa Clarita Valley International Program (SCVIP), Sister Cities and City of Santa Clarita, features Joao Junqueira and Vento Sur, a CalArts alumni musical group. Music professionals and students from the Santa Clarita Valley will perform folk and popular music styles such as Tango, Cumbia and Samba, utilizing music and dance as a uniting element for Latin American cultures. Proceeds will benefit SCVIP’s programs, including medical missions to Santa Clarita’s sister cities in Tena, Ecuador, and Sariaya, Philippines.
