Event: College of the Canyons takes very seriously its role in responding to on-campus emergencies — including natural disasters and other emergency scenarios — while ensuring the safety of all faculty, staff, students and visitors to the campus.
The college annually holds a campus wide emergency preparedness information session and drill to help keep the campus community up to date with any changes or updates to these plans.
At this year’s event, the college’s Incident Command Team will provide a presentation related to how faculty/staff/administrators should respond to campus intruders intending gun violence.
Following the presentation a simulated, hands-on practice drill — featuring role playing assailants — will be held inside the TLC, with participating staff members asked to respond according to the guidelines and information they have received.
NOTE TO EDITORS: Media access to this drill will be managed by the COC Public Information Office. If you intend to have reporters and/or photographers covering this story they MUST contact the PIO office at (661) 362-5604 or (661) 362-3415.
