Job Fairs Slated April 20 & May 4; Resume Rallies April 12 & 13

The College of the Canyons Job & Career Center will host a pair of spring semester Job & Career Fairs providing job seekers with employment opportunities in various industries and career fields.

The first Job & Career Fair event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the East P.E. gymnasium, located on the college’s Valencia campus.

The college will host a second job fair event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the COC Canyon Country campus.

Both fairs, which are free and open to the public, will feature a wide range of employers seeking to fill entry, middle and upper level job opportunities.

For companies that are unable to attend this year’s event, an on-site “virtual job fair” hosted by KHTS AM 1220, will allow job seekers to apply for additional job opportunities.

Free workshops on topics including the effective use of the social media network LinkedIn and how to market yourself with an effective resume will also be available to job fair attendees.

In addition, a special “employer showcase” will feature what opportunities Princess Cruises, City of Santa Clarita, College of the Canyons, and the FBI have to offer.

The COC Job & Career Center will also host a pair of Resume Rally events where students and community members can create a new resume, or have their current resume critiqued, prior to attending the college’s Job & Career Fair events.

Resume Rally events are scheduled for the following dates and times:

 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 12, Valencia Campus (Canyons Hall, Room 102)

 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Apr. 13, Canyon Country Campus (Quad 1, Bldg. B)

All Job & Career Fair and Resume Rally events are free to students and community members, with no appointments needed and attendees able to drop in anytime.

For the Resume Rally events, attendees without student parking passes should be prepared to purchase a one-day pass for $3, or print out a Resume Rally flyer from the college’s Career Services website and place it on their car’s dashboard on the day of the event.
