Students at College of the Canyons will have access to a “Blockbuster Summer” schedule of courses with three class sessions designed to help students and community members better achieve their educational goals.
The 2016 summer session will include seats for more than 18,000 students spread across more than 600 sections of high-demand “core” classes in a wide range of academic subjects and disciplines.
As always, courses will be offered at both the college’s Valencia and Canyon Country campus, as well as online.
The majority of class sections offered will be courses that most students need to either graduate or meet prerequisites for transfer to a four-year school, providing an excellent opportunity for students to get a jump start on their coursework before the start of the fall semester in August.
In addition, a number of elective and exploratory courses — which students often use to help determine their desired educational or career track — have also been included in the 2016 summer schedule.
“The college has stepped up this summer by expanding the number of courses, days and times available to our students and community member,” said Dr. Jerry Buckley, COC assistant superintendent and vice president of instruction. “Students will find a number of options at our Valencia and Canton Country campuses, in addition to online classes, to help them either transfer or pick up a new skill to advance their career.”
- The college’s first five-week summer session will run June 6 to July 9.
- A second summer session will begin June 13 and run until Aug. 6.
- A final five-week summer session will be offered from July 11 to Aug. 13.
The college’s summer schedule of classes is now posted online at www.canyons.edu. To access the schedule, just click the blue “class schedules” tab near the top of the home page. A printed schedule will not be offered to students.
