College to Host Family Picnic & Movie Night Sept. 13
As part of its ongoing 45th anniversary celebration, College of the Canyons will host a free communitywide picnic and screening of the classic Walt Disney film ‘The Love Bug’ on the evening of Saturday, Sept. 13.
Originally released in 1969 — the same year College of the Canyons was established — ‘The Love Bug’ tells the tale of a race car driver who rises to the top of his sport thanks in part to the antics “Herbie,” a unique Volkswagen Beetle with a mind of its own.
The Family Movie Night event is free to all community members, with students, employees, alumni and friends of the college encouraged to attend.
The picnic portion of the evening will begin at 6 p.m., with attendees invited to pack picnic dinners, and bring blankets and chairs for an evening of family fun under the stars.
Accompanying children’s activities also are planned.
The movie screening will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m.
Both portions of the event will take place in the Honor Grove, located at the Valencia campus.
Complimentary popcorn, candy and root beer floats will be available to all attendees.
