Workshop to Focus on Medical Hazardous Waste Management 

College of the Canyons and the Health Workforce Initiative invite healthcare providers, educators, government agencies and the general public to attend a free workshop focused on Hazardous Waste Management and Pollution Prevention for Medical and Dental Offices and Hospitals.

The Industry Assistance and Outreach Unit, California Department of Toxic Substances Control will conduct the workshop. 

Featured at the workshop will be topics including:
  • Managing hazardous wastes
  • Common sources of pollutants and wastes at medical and dental facilities
  • Hazardous waste laws and regulations
  • Resources and a question and answer session
Throughout the workshop, DTSC environmental scientists will be available to answer specific questions regarding compliance activities and provide helpful resources.

Attendance groups that may find this presentation of particular interest include medical and dental office administrators; office managers; risk management, facilities, and plant service personnel; and government and private sector environmental health and safety professionals.

The workshop Hazardous Waste Management and Pollution Prevention for Medical and Dental Offices and Hospitals is scheduled 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 17, in the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, Room 258, located on the college’s Valencia campus (University Center Drive entrance).

The workshop is free and open to the public. Due to limited seating capacity, attendees are asked to register in advance.

The event is supported in part by grants from the Workforce and Economic Development Division of the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.
