Invitation to Attend College of the Canyons Sculpture Dedication Ceremony
Subject: The Santa Clarita Community College District Board of Trustees and College of the Canyons Chancellor Dr. Dianne Van Hook will host a special dedication ceremony to officially unveil the new Simi Dabah Sculpture Collection at College of the Canyons.
Event: In summer 2014, college officials began installing a series of welded steel sculptures as part of a campus beautification project at both the Valencia and Canyon Country campuses.
The sculptures were created by Southern California-based artist Simi Dabah, who generously donated them to the college for permanent installation. Welded from pieces of industrial scrap metal, Dabah’s sculptures have been praised for being both friendly to the environment and inspirational to the viewer.
On Thursday, the college will celebrate the formal unveiling of the largest public collection of sculptures by Mr. Dabah — expected to include as many as 25 pieces — with a ceremony at the Valencia campus.
Mr. Dabah will be on hand for a discussion of his work.
Time: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6.
Location: Lobby of Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Santa Clarita.
Contact: Murray Wood, chief development officer, College of the Canyons Foundation, (661) 362-3433.
Note to Editors: Photo opportunities will be available.
