Honor Society Invites Community to ‘Reach for the Stars’ 

Subject: The College of the Canyons Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society will host its ‘Reach for the Stars’ Science Exposition while presenting a variety of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) projects to the community.

Event: Students from the COC Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society will join forces with industry professionals from the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) to stage a variety of STEM-related projects and demonstrations.

All projects will operate with a ‘Celestial Frontiers’ theme and be geared toward elementary school students. However, individuals of all ages welcome to join in the fun.

Projects expected to be on display include a hovercraft, dry ice experiments, and planet orientations. 

The NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center will also be staging several unique demonstrations along with a presentation from one of its pilots.

Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015.

Location: East P.E. Gymnasium (Valencia Campus).
