WAR Declared at Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center

Wash that old “Low Rider” of yours and ask your mortal enemy “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” because legendary funk-rock-soul band WAR is coming to the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center (PAC) at College of the Canyons -- and missing this show would be like “Slippin’ Into Darkness.”

warhighreslogolgAfter four decades of live performances, 19 studio albums and more than 50 million records sold, Los Angeles-based WAR’s critically acclaimed music is as fresh and timely as ever.

Fusing rock, Latin rhythms, funk, blues, jazz and soul into a distinctive sound all their own, WAR’s music has resonated with baby boomers and younger generations of music fans alike. Although their lyrics are sometimes political in nature, for the most part, WAR’s music has maintained a sunny, laid-back vibe, emblematic of the band’s Southern California roots.

With 10 Top-10 Billboard Pop and R&B singles to their credit -- including “Low Rider,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” “Spill The Wine,” “Slippin’ Into Darkness,” “All Day Music,” “The Cisco Kid” and “Outlaw” -- WAR continues to have an impact on music fans and musicians, regardless of race, generation or genre.

In the last year alone the band has performed in front of more than a million fans, while seeing their hit “Low Rider” chosen as the theme song to the late night talk show “Lopez Tonight” hosted by comedian George Lopez, proving time and again that they are the type of “WAR” that truly brings people together.

“Whether your preference is rock, jazz, blues or all of the above, this performance by WAR will be a memorable night any music lover will enjoy,” said Adam Philipson, PAC managing director. “This is just one of the many stellar shows on the winter/spring portion of our schedule, and we look forward to bringing many more memorable artists and performance to the PAC.”

WAR will take the PAC main stage at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011. Tickets range in price from $45 to $75, and can be purchased through the PAC Box Office.

For more information about the performance by WAR or to purchase tickets please contact the PAC Box Office at (661) 362-5304 or visit www.CanyonsPAC.com.
