Organization Description - The mission of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Ventura County, Inc. is to improve the lives of children by creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships with proven results. Our team works hard to provide resources for the students and their families. We provide a safe environment, structured with high expectations, so as to accentuate their talents while assisting them in reaching their goals. We are proud of the programs we have implemented such as: the Hike and Bike club, Peer-to-Peer Study Hall, English Language Development mentoring, Leadership Workshops, College Expeditions, Video workshops, Teen Alcohol Abuse and Youth Pregnancy Prevention workshops, STEM Guest Speakers, Earth Day Art Shows, Day of the Dead community event, P-K mentoring and our daily Site Base mentoring at the Boys & Girls Club and surrounding elementary schools.
Volunteer Opportunities Assist in supervising high school students while they mentor elementary students, assist in organizing guest STEM and/or Life Skill speakers for high school students, be Life Skill guest speaker and present life skills to students.

Additional information: This organization is located at the Fillmore High School; the school district may require proof of vaccinations. Hours are occasionally available on the weekends during field trips. Background checks are required for anyone working with the youth (no fee).

Organization Description - The Boys and Girls Club is an after school youth organization offering programs and activities in sports, fitness, and recreation; the arts; education and career development; health and life skills; and leadership development.
Volunteer Opportunities - Helping supervise activities with children, prepping projects or activity plans, assisting with snack bar, membership sign in and out, some cleaning & filing

Additional Comments - Background checks are required for all volunteers ($10 fee). Upon passing the background check they will be called in for a short interview and be given an intern job description packet.
Dress code is strictly enforced.
No sleeveless shirts/blouses; no short shorts (culottes or mid-thigh length pants are acceptable during summer); no spandex/tights; no spaghetti straps or revealing shirts; no open-toe shoes; no holes or worn-out clothing; no baggy clothing; no vulgar, politically incorrect, or suggestive wording on any clothing.

Volunteer Opportunities –
·         Games Room Volunteer: Lead games for youth 7-12 years old.
·         Homework Tutor: Assist youth 7-17 with homework 2pm-5pm Monday-Thursday
·         Gym Assistant: Help coach, referee, score keep, and manage sports leagues
·         Closing Volunteer: Help with daily clean-up such as vacuuming, mopping, and taking out the trash. 5pm-7pm Monday-Friday
