Organization Description- We provide shelter and aid to victims of violence. Our mission is intervention, prevention, and education. We help victims overcome their situations, while providing community outreach to spread awareness, education, and prevention of various forms of domestic violence.
Volunteer Opportunities- The Domestic Violence Center (DVC) has several opportunities for Service Learning Students:
·         Evening child care, Fundraising events, office support
·         Train and facilitate clients in the Active Parenting Now curriculum
·         Work with local nonprofits and businesses to disseminate the DVC information for community education
·         Organize and promote local donation drives in the community.
Students who want to work directly with victims of domestic violence need to complete a 40 hour DV advocate training. The DVC facilitates two training per year, September and February.
The DVC is a confidential worksite and client information cannot be shared outside of the agency. Confidentiality waivers are included in the volunteer application.
Hours of Operation- Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
Volunteer Hours Required- 2-5 per week
