In these difficult economic times, College of the Canyons is pleased to provide assistance to community members and students who have been impacted by job loss or other circumstances where they may be in need of a little help.

Career Services

 

 

Career Services, located in Seco Hall, offers a career assessment service, lists employment opportunities, internships, phone and FAX services, and several employment related workshops.

Human Resources

The Human Resources Office is responsible for the selection and development of high quality staff, and the promotion of understanding and appreciation of the diversity of the students, staff and the community.  With respect to staffing, this includes ensuring of appropriate levels of staffing for all new and existing campus facilities and programs, providing development and training opportunities to ensure excellence, and strengthening institutional practices in the area of human resources including equal employment opportunity.

We have a variety of information about jobs available at the College, and we hope that you are able to find what you need as quickly as possible.

Veteran Affairs

Services are provided for Active Duty, recently released from Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, recently returning from deployment, recently deployed, and Dependants of Service Members with a service connected disability or deceased. 

Small Business Development Center

 

The Small Business Development Center, hosted by College of the Canyons, was launched in January 2006.  Serving the Antelope Valley, San Fernando Valley, and Santa Clarita Valley, they help prospective and existing small business owners in northern Los Angeles County start, retain or expand their businesses.  Services include workshops, one-on-one consulting, and many other resources to the business community.

Junior High Summer Institute

The Junior High Summer Institute at College of the Canyons provides middle school students opportunities to consider a career path and provides an alternative to traditional day care summer camp.

Community Resources

There are a number of agencies in the community that provide services related to job searches, child care and other social needs.  The following are some of those resources.

Santa Clarita WorkSource Center

The WorkSource Center offers Employment Workshops designed to help you sell your strengths to potential employers and improve your chances of obtaining a job offer. Computers and printers to help you write resumes and develop cover letters. Internet access to help broaden your search and gain information on careers, employers and the current labor market. Phones, fax and copy machines to help you better communicate with employers.

Single Mothers Outreach

Single Mothers Outreach empowers single parents and their children by providing hope, support, and resources to help families become self-sustaining.

Santa Clarita Community Center

The City of Santa Clarita Community Center positively impacts the community by providing enriching opportunities in a fun and safe environment.

Child and Family Center

Providing quality mental health, behavioral and educational services for children and families in Santa Clarita since 1976.

Dedicated to helping children, adults and families reach their full potential for becoming caring, responsible individuals.

Samuel Dixon Family Health Center

With two primary health centers - the Val Verde Health Center and the Canyon Country Health Center, we provide immunizations and vaccines, physicals, screening and diagnostic tests, well baby care, preventative programs, family planning, women's health services, treatment of illness and injury.

SCV Pregnancy Center

 

Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services

The Department of Children and Family Services, with public, private and community partners, provides quality child welfare services and supports so children grow up safe, healthy, educated and with permanent families.

Public Counsel Law Center

Public Counsel is the largest pro bono public interest law firm in the world. Founded in 1970, Public Counsel is dedicated to advancing equal justice under law by delivering free legal and social services to the most vulnerable members of our community, including abused and abandoned children, homeless families and veterans, senior citizens, victims of consumer fraud and nonprofit organizations serving low-income communities.

Fair Housing Council of the San Fernando Valley

The Fair Housing Council of the San Fernando Valley (FHC/SFV) is a private, non-profit, civil rights advocacy organization founded in 1958, whose mission is to eliminate housing discrimination. The FHC/SFV is designated by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt organization and is governed by a volunteer board of directors. The FHC/SFV is supported by donations from its members and others and also receives financial support from The City of Burbank, The City and County of Los Angeles, The City of Santa Clarita, The City of San Fernando and The City of Simi Valley, through their Community Development Block Grant funds.

Boys and Girls Club of the Santa Clarita Valley

More than 1,600 young people between the ages of 7 and 17 are currently engaged in a wide variety of programs including education & career exploration, the arts, sports, recreation and fitness, character & leadership development, and healthy life choices. We provide opportunities for young people to learn, explore, contribute and grow in a safe environment supervised by trained and dedicated staff members.

Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry

The mission of the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry is to alleviate hunger throughout the Santa Clarita Valley. We accomplish this with a dynamic group of volunteers who source donations, package nutritious food to stretch a family's food supply and distribute that food to qualifying residents in the Santa Clarita Valley.
