COC Exams at Alternate Locations

Students enrolled in a COC class who cannot take their exam at COC can take their exam at an alternate location if they have approval from their instructor and the Testing Center. It is the student’s responsibility to request their instructor’s approval, locate an appropriate testing location, and contact the Testing Center with their request.

To arrange taking a COC exam at an alternate location:

  1. Request instructor approval to take an exam at an alternate location. Instructors should forward their response to TLCTestProctor@canyons.edu.
  2. Locate an appropriate testing location – an alternate college or university Testing Center, public library, or other location subject to approval from the COC Testing Center – and testing proctor – a Testing Center administrator, librarian holding a graduate degree or higher in library sciences, instructor at a college or university, elementary or secondary school teacher, military education officer, or other proctor subject to approval from the COC Testing Center.
  3. Send an alternate location proctoring request to TLCTestProctor@canyons.edu. The following information must be included in the email:
    • Student’s name
    • Student's phone number
    • Instructor's name
    • Class and section number
    • How many exams will be proctored at this alternate location?
    • What are the numbers/names of these exams?
    • Proctor's name
    • Proctor's email address
    • Proctor's phone number
    • Proctor's fax number (if applicable)
    • Testing Location's name
    • Testing Location's address

After sending an initial request, please allow at least 7-10 business days for the testing location and proctor to be approved (international arrangements may require more time).
