Veterans Education Benefits Reminder

New Students

  • Make sure all military and civilian transcripts have been submitted and evaluated by the Admissions & Records Department; once ALL transcripts have been evaluated you can schedule your counseling appointment for a comprehensive SEP.

  • Make sure that you have completed VA Education / Vocational Benefits Orientation in the Veterans Resource Center.

Continuing Students

  • The School Certifying Official must have a copy of your most current SEP in order to process your request for VA Payment. Only classes on your SEP can be submitted for VA payment. The VP-20 must be submitted in person the same day as registration.

Priority Registration for 2017 Summer begins on 4/24.

  • If you’re eligible, check your MyCanyons to verify you have received a Level 1 registration date. If you have not been assigned a Level 1 date and believe that you are eligible, please contact the Veterans Resource Center.
  • Be prepared for registration by reviewing the Summer 2017 schedule of classes online and selecting classes that are listed on you Student Education Plan.

Request for VA Payment

  • Once you register for classes and would like to receive VA Education / Vocational Benefits you must submit a request for VA payment (VP-20) to the VRC on the Valencia Campus. You may pick-up a VP-20 in the VRC.

  • The School Certifying Official must have a copy of your most current SEP in order to process your request for VA Payment. Only classes on your SEP can be submitted for VA payment. The VP-20 must be submitted in person the same day as registration.

  • Once you submit a VP-20, if you add/drop or adjust your schedule in any way, you must notify the VRC by submitting a new VP-20 when adding or VP-30 when dropping.

Chapter 31 & Chapter 33

  • To avoid being dropped for non-payment, you must submit a signed (by VRC) copy of your VP-20 to the Student Business Office the same day as registration, after it has been signed by the VRC.

Chapter 31

  • Must have a current VA Form 28-1905 on file at the VRC.

Veterans Academic Counseling

  • Appointments and drop-ins are available for either comprehensive SEP’s or quick changes. Contact the VRC to schedule an appointment or for information about drop-in hours.  Now is the perfect time to update your SEP. There are plenty of counseling appointments available so don’t wait, schedule yours now! The closer we get to registration the more difficult it becomes to schedule a counseling appointment.

  • If you are close to completing your program, you should meet with a counselor to discuss petitioning for graduation or transfer.
