Volunteer Peer Tutoring:
The Learning Center
Volunteer tutoring is a rewarding experience that will enhance your
skills while assisting students in varied disciplines. Volunteer
tutoring is an excellent addition to your resume, you will gain
experience in your field of study or expertise, you may earn
transferable credit for the co-requisite Tutoring Methods class, and
there are shifts available between classes for college students. There
are currently openings for Volunteer Peer Tutors in the Humanities and
Social Sciences. In order to be considered as a Volunteer Peer Tutor,
you must fulfill the following requirements:
- Submit an application
with a COC faculty recommendation in the field you wish to tutor to
Kim Haglund at The Learning Center. Applications are available in
The Learning Center.
- Pass required
background check
- Enroll in, and
complete, the required Tutoring Methods class
- Commit to the
assignment for a full semester
