Larry Hurst was born in Missouri and spent his childhood in Alaska and Arizona, settling in California in 1963.  His interest in art was always preeminent and he graduated from Chouinard Art Institute in 1971.  While still in college he worked at Cirrus editions as a master printer, focusing on the work of Ed Ruscha.

Pursuing a career in fine arts, Mr. Hurst has had gallery exhibitions in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Francisco and San Diego.  His works can be found in many private and corporate collections including, Hyatt Hotels, Bank of America, Hallmark Cards, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, UCLA Medical Plaza, Scripps Institute, IBM Corporation, Southern California 
Gas Company, Harrah’s Corporation, Peabody Hotels, Mobil Oil, and numerous law firms.

Working in compositions of intense color and order, his work reflects the fundamental elements and principals of art, emphasizing color, balance and composition.
