The Center for Early Childhood Education

The Center for Early Childhood Education - Toddler and Preschool program is an on-campus laboratory preschool which was established to provide a supervised practicum experience for students majoring in Early Childhood Education at College of the Canyons.  At the center we provide a developmental program for children from toddlerhood to five years of age which has been accredited by the National Association of Early Childhood Programs.  We implement this "Developmentally Appropriate" approach to learning by careful planning and adapting the environment: schedule, materials and activities.  The complexity of activities and materials reflect the group.  As the children work with the materials or activities, the teachers listen, observe and interpret children's behavior.

The Children's Center offers a 10-month program, Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The program is closed holidays and winter & spring breaks.  Please consult the District's calendar, adopted by the Board of Trustees for specific dates.  A child may be enrolled in a 2-day, 3-day, or 5-day per week sessions.  Both full-time and part-time programs are available.
