EMT Program Summer 2013

Admissions and Records are currently accepting applications for Summer Session and Fall Semester.

Registration will start April 22nd.

Health Science 045 is no longer be offered.

Health Science 046 - Emergency Medical Responder will be offered during the Summer session. Class will be held  July 8, 2013 through August 7, 2013.  It is STRONGLY recommended that the student successfully complete Health Science  046  or Health Science 045 prior to enrolling in Health Science 151.  Do not take Health Science 046 and Health Science 151 concurrently.

Health Science 051 -  American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider will no longer be offered at COC. The American Heart Association BLS for the Healthcare Provider is the only card accepted by the EMT Program. We do not accept online cards.

Health Science 151 - (EMT class): The course has been increased to 160 hours - 8 units. This is a rigorous class. Expectation of all students - a minimum of 25-30 hours of outside study per week. Our course requires a background check, physical, titers, immunizations, tetanus shot, TB tests and uniform. Our uniform includes – white uniform shirt with logo (will be available through the COC Barnes & Noble Bookstore), white t-shirt,  navy blue or black dickies or BDUs, black leather oxford type shoes or lace-up boots, plain belt. You are also required to purchase a safety vest – available in the COC Barnes & Noble Bookstore. (The vest is a Federal regulation) There is an 8 hour ride along and two 8 hour ER clinical shifts that must be accomplished outside of class time. This class includes the LA County 2011 Scope of Practice. Please check the COC website for the official Summer Schedule.  Starts June 10, 2013.

Health Science 153 - (EMT Refresher)  will be offered  during the Summer Session. Starts June 11, 2013. Please check the COC website for the official Summer 2013 schedule.
