FAQs about the EMT Program
-
I
am a Nursing Student at College of the Canyons and completed my
background check. Do I need to repeat my background check?
EMT students who are also Nursing students and have had their background
check through the Nursing Department do not need another background check as
long as they are CURRENTLY ENROLLED in a NURSING COURSE. Nursing students
must provide a copy of proof of current enrollment to the instructor and
authorize a release of their background report to the EMT program. If the
background check is more than two (2) years old, it must be repeated.

I
am a Nursing Student at College of the Canyons and completed my physical
and immunizations. Do I need to repeat my physical and immunizations?
EMT students, who are also Nursing students and have completed their Nursing
physical, must have their physician/NP/or PA sign the EMT physical form. A
copy of the nursing physical must be attached to the EMT physical form and
submitted to the EMT instructor.
-
May the EMT course be repeated? The course may be repeated if the student
did not pass the class. Additionally, the class may be repeated for
“mandated training” (i.e. has allowed EMT certification to expire, did not
obtain certification within two years of the date on the completion
certificate, or unable to certify through National Registry.) A “Request for
Course Repetition” must be completed, including the reason for retaking the
course.
