Log book for Experiment #1 1/10/02
SAMPLE LOG BOOK: This is a log book generated during an actual run through experiment
(names have been changed to protect the innocent). It is not a model, in the sense that there
are omissions and mistakes (can you find them). It is intended as a realistic example of
a log book that would be given full grade (i.e. an 'A'). Yellow text boxes like this one have
been added in a few places throughout the log book to draw your attention to some features.

9:45am Atmospheric conditions at start of experiment .
Readings
Atmospheric press. 941.1 mBar
Temperature 17.1 C 290.1 K
Density 1.1303323 kg/m^3
Viscosity 1.7980E-05 m^2/s
Thermometer: Radioshack precision, resolution .1 deg C
Kahlsico Precision Aneroid Barometer Mk 2
Resolution is 0.1mBar, but the Daniel reckons
it can be read to 0.05
Dowloading photos while writing the logbokk seems to be a big pain -
will do them in stages.

10am
Decided to split into two groups
Albert and Daniel doing the smoke flow vis (sheet 2)
George and Marie doing the oil flowvis (see sheet 3)
NOTE: Imported photos from digital camera
11:20am Group met for closing meeting
NOTE: Minutes of closing meeting given, could do opening meeting too...
Albert/Daniel described smoke flow vis & showed tunnel
Marie points out that analysis of stall locations vs. AOA still to be done
George notes that processing photos is pretty easy using MS Photo editor, inside MS Office
Marie/George explained oil flow vis
Albert points out, how do you know what the real mixture was for the low speed flow vis. (don't know, will have to explain in report)
Marie asks if it matters that last oil flow was incomplete, and no zero AoA cases were done?
General agreement is that it doesn't matter, as long as what was done is written up objectively and complete - besides, low speed case does show some oil flow.
Checked over grade sheet, asked TA for Manometer data sheet (should be with tunnel?) - looks like accuracy is 0.5% full scale (2500Pa)
