The Modern Languages Department develops students' linguistic and cultural proficiency in Chinese, Italian, French, German, and Spanish within an interdisciplinary and global context. Because the department recognizes the need for language training in specialized areas, it awards intensive language study programs in higher demand languages as needed. The department awards Associate Degrees for French and Spanish.
The department is committed to providing quality language instruction based on recognized national standards and contributing actively to cross-disciplinary international initiatives on campus. For instance, it hosts an International Film Festival; a student club, The Summit; an honor society, Alpha Mu Gamma; and study abroad opportunities.
