Equipment

The following is the MINIMUM hardware configuration required to participate in online classes in the CIT Department.

 

Does your computer have at least a Pentium IV Processor, 800 MHz or higher, 1 GB MB RAM, a sound card, 8X DVD-ROM drive or higher, 40 GB hard disk or larger?

Do you have an Apple Macintosh G3, 1 GB MB RAM, sound card, 8X DVD-ROM, 40 GB hard disk or higher, OS X or higher? (for non-Windows classes only)

Software

Minimum software requirements (NOTE: Additional applications may be required for certain classes):

1.

Microsoft Word XP or higher (For all classes)

2.

Microsoft Office 2007 (for classes related to any MS-Office software, such as Excel, Access, PowerPoint, or Word)

3.

Microsoft Windows XP or higher (Required for all Windows-based classes only)

4.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher with Java enabled.

5.

An e-mail client program (e.g., Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape Communicator, etc., or a Web-based e-mail account.)

6.

Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.0 or higher (Free Download)

8.

Archiving software that is ZIP-format compatible (e.g. WinZip, WinRAR, PKZIP, Izarc, or Windows XP, Vista etc.)

 

Computer Skills

I am proficient with Web browser software and know how to re-configure browser preferences, including security, printing, JavaScript, Java, Cache, Multimedia, and other advanced settings.

I can send, receive, forward, save, and print e-mail messages as well as properly complete e-mail message heading information, including address and subject information.
