We offer the a full range of lower-division undergraduate physics courses, from Physics 101 for the student who wants to take a physics course for general education to the calculus based Physics 222 for the student who wants to be an applied or physical scientist (learn more via the “courses” link above).

The department has acquired a lot of brand new equipment this Fall semester for students to have an active hands-on learning experience.

Our students are engaged in small classes in smart-classrooms in a new building using An inquiry-based active learning style, all in order to best prepare students for transfer and their future careers. (see the “Photos” webpage above).

The Physics major provides the basis for careers in applied science and in interdisciplinary areas such as astronomy, astrophysics, biophysics, engineering physics, environmental science, oceanography, and scientific instrumentation.
