Biography

C. Acosta was born in Nicaragua. Her family moved to the U.S. in 1979 during the overthrow of the Somoza regime. She received an M.A. Degree in Hispanic Literatures from the University of California, Riverside. She holds a bachelor from CSU, San Marcos is in Liberal Arts and Broadcast Journalism. She has completed post-graduate courses in the area of literature and education. She participated in the programs of the Council of Latin American and Peninsular studies at Yale, University. Recently she completed her doctoral course work in Education from Pepperdine University.

Professor of Spanish and Department Chair

She has taught Spanish at the university level for over thirteen years in the U.S. and in Spain and South America. She developed the Intensive Spanish Institute at COC and serves as the department chair. She is the faculty sponsor of (Alpha Mu Gamma) the Foreign Language Honor Society and advisor of (OLAS) the Organization of Latin American Students on campus. She is the co-author of two language publications. In the community she serves on executive board as president of the Santa Clarita Valley International Program (SCVIP) and Sister Cities.
