Service Learning in the Spanish Program

Service-learning provides a bridge between education and community by involving students in service projects in the community and /or working with non-profit organizations. SL projects provide meaningful experiences that students can reflect on in class, connecting theory to practice. Through service and reflection, SL helps students cultivate a sense of social responsibility and gain a deeper understanding of theories presented in class. Students are able to gain a larger perspective for context of course materials, which becomes more dynamic and real because of their experiences and observations.
