Robert Walker became a full-time professor at College of the Canyons in 1990 following 15 years as a professional artist. At the College he teaches both Art History and sculpture classes. He received his M.F.A. from University of California at Irvine in 1971 and was born in Los Angeles. He has exhibited in numerous exhibitions in museums and galleries in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. In 2004 he will be exhibiting in solo gallery exhibitions in both Tokyo and Los Angeles and is a part of the opening exhibition of the first modern art museum in Thailand. In January of 2004, he was a guest lecturer at the University of Bangkok. Walker has long been a social activist in the artistic community of Los Angeles. In 1986 he founded the first program for homeless artists and in 1988 he pioneered a program for artists with Aids and HIV. He is currently the president of the board of Los Angeles Artcore. Walker’s work will be found in many distinguished public and private collections including Arco, Prudential, Atlantic Records, Sheppard, Muller, Richter & Hampton, A.T.& T, The Salk Institute, Dior, Cedars-Sinai, Bank of America, Loyola Law School, and I.B.M.
