AMSA COC Membership dues
Local dues are $10 / year and have to be paid immediately to be considered a member. Initially, you will receive an electronic invoice for your local dues. Once the dues are paid to the Treasurer, an electronic receipt will be sent indicating that you are now a member and will state when your membership expires.
AMSA National Membership dues
National dues are $75 / 5 years. Yes, 5 years! If you do the math, it comes out to $15 / year, which isn’t that bad. Therefore, your national dues will cover your entire undergraduate education. To pay your national membership dues go to amsa.org.
What if I transfer out of COC in 2 years and go to UCLA?
What happens to my national dues?
-You’re still a national member. All you have to do is pay the local dues for UCLA.
Active Member Status
To be considered an active member of AMSA you must complete 100 points per semester.
How can I earn points?
-Points can easily be earned through a variety of activities, one of which is simply attending meetings!
-5 point/meeting you attend (attending just ten meetings (5*10=50) gets you halfway there!)
-5 to 15 points for other events and activities. The exact amounts will be decided based on the nature of the event.
General Meeting Times
Every Friday between 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm in Mentry Hall 242 (MENH-242)
What if I can’t make it to general meetings due to class or work schedule?
Committee points
The club officers will vote on the value of points given to a certain committee task. Committee chairs are assigned and will get more points for managing several members. Committee members report to the committee chair and will be assigned a designated amount of points. Again, depending on the task.
Benefits of becoming an “active member”
Active members are able to attend “Special Events” hosted by the club. A special event could include, but is not limited to, listening to a guest speaker, attending an informative and/or hands on workshop, going on field trips and conferences, etc.
