WELCOME FROM THE DEPARTMENT CHAIR

The Chemistry Department is ready for a great Fall semester. We have 12 talented and committed faculty and staff, who are dedicated to providing you with a world class education. We are offering 17 sections of chemistry courses this semester. The offerings include 3 hybrid sections of chemistry which meet for lab weekly: Chem 151 & Chem 201. The professors in the chemistry department are warm and encouraging, and strive to give every student the attention they need to succeed. Together we can make the most of your science education.

The department has wonderful laboratory facilities, equipped with current spectroscopic instrumentation. We are very pleased to be holding our Organic Chemistry classes in the new lab building, Aliso Hall, and to welcome students to our remodeled lab and lecture rooms in Boykin Hall. We think you will find both new spaces a great environment for learning chemistry.

A student Chemistry Club has many wonderful activities planned. I think you will agree this is a good opportunity for you to have fun with chemistry! The Chemistry Club had field trips to the Getty Research Institute and UCLA's California NanoSystems Institute in the past. Activities for Spring will include more field trips and activities. Meeting times and events will be regularly updated through our department website.
