The Computer Networking Department at College of the Canyons is proud to be affiliated with the Cisco Networking Academy Program sponsored by Cisco Systems, Inc. As a Cisco Networking Academy we are able to offer our students a comprehensive curriculum covering the latest IT technologies with inclusive practical hands-on labs. This combination provides the student with the opportunity to implement the theories learned in the classroom.

Cisco Systems' Channel Partners, their largest customers, will be looking at the Cisco Networking Academy alumni to fill their employment needs. This partnership will provide employment opportunities for those students that have successfully completed classes in the program.

MSDN Academic Alliance

As a member of the Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance program, the Computer Networking Department at College of the Canyons is able to provide the latest Microsoft technologies for the students' learning environment. This membership also allows the department to distribute software to students enrolled in department classes free of charge to load on their personal machines for use in their course work and personal projects. Students do NOT need to remove the software at the end of the course.

CREATE

The California Regional Consortium for Engineering Advances in Technological Education (CREATE) project is a joint effort between seven community colleges and over 50 large high tech engineering/technology employers. CREATE-CATC is the Regional Cisco Academy Training Center for California and Nevada. The office is located on the campus of College of the Canyons and provides the department with Cisco Networking Academy insight as to upcoming strategies and events. Department members are CATC instructors and are responsible for training the regional instructors within CREATE's jurisdiction. This affiliation also provides the department with the opportunity to be first in offering academy students classes on the latest emerging technologies, i.e. IP Telephony.
