A faculty member at the college since 1977, "Dirk" Fischer studied composition with such luminaries as Shillinger and Hindemith. Throughout his career, he has been lead trumpet for the Little John Beecher Orchestra, arranger and musical director for Lee Williams, and a member of the Joe Vera Latin Ensemble. Mr. Fischer's compositions and arrangements are performed by jazz ensembles in high schools, colleges, and professional orchestras throughout the United States, the Netherlands, Nova Scotia, and Japan.
